Mmm 10 years does seem a long time. That's more than half your life, lol.

No point looking back wishing things though, you were very young when you started. Just think when I was your age I only had a couple of years guitar playing under my belt, and........the 1st year and half was useless as I had the worse teacher ever so didn't learn much! Ask Chris, him, his brother and his Dad all went to the same guy, only his Dad realised a lot sooner that they weren't getting anywhere. (I'm just stupid!!! lol)

Then I had really bad tendonitis in my wrist that slowed me down a couple of years, then I developed tinnitus and that knocked me back for about 5 years.

So......you're doing ok!!!

Good luck with the gig. Let me know how it goes?

Yeah, he was a very bad teacher! He didn't give use anything more than bland sequences of chords to trudge through every lesson. I actually delayed going in a lot of the time, it was so boring...

Now I really look forward to my lessons! Thanks Sarah Razz

Mmmm, only thing was I enjoyed playing the sequences. I was just excited by any sound a guitar made. So it was a year and a half before I thought "hang on a minute what am I actually learning here?" Answer was - nothing!!! lol

Bearing in mind that was 17 years ago. He managed to keep people going along to him somehow! ???????

Anyway, I'm glad you look forwards to your lessons now. That's how learning should be. Very Happy

Hmm, I'm not sure if putting all that info about name and age on the internet is a good idea, but I'll do the other stuff :/

How long I've been playing for: since last Chrsitmas, so about half a year.

Fave bands: Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, Anthrax (yes, the big 4 of thrash), Testament, Pantera (and Down), Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden (best live band; suck that coldplay!), In Flames, Disturbed, Guns n Roses, Lamb of God, Motorhead, Rage Against the Machine, Shinedown, Trivium and Jeff Loomis (bit obscure: awesome instru-metal). Wow, that's a lotta bands o_O

What guitar I have: as said in another thread, a fairly boring (but functional) Fender Squier Strat, in black.

Any other hobbies: apart from music in general I also like video games, watching action films (new Terminator Very Happy) and comedies.

I just like to be careful, if too much personal info falls into the wrong hands, things like indentity theft / fraud etc. become more likely. I usually post on anonymous forums to avoid this.

Thanks!

Mmm if you're worried about posting any details then best not to. For identity fraud though they do need more info than your age.

One other thing that's best not to post is your email address as it will get picked up by spammers and you'll be overloaded until it's just not worth keeping your account open (more spam than real mail).

Make sure your email address is set to "do not show" on your profiles too.

If you do need to post it for some reason then open a new address that you don't mind closing down. If you look at my website the mail address prefix is info1, when that gets too much spam I'll change 1 to 2 and so on.
